The Clubhouse provides meaningful English immersion experiences through our After School and Saturday School programs. We believe children learn best when English becomes a natural part of communication, friendships, creativity, and everyday life.
Designed for Families Who Want More Than English Lessons
The Clubhouse was created for families who want more than a traditional English lesson. Our immersive programs help children attending Japanese preschools and elementary schools develop strong English skills under the guidance of licensed, experienced educators.
The Clubhouse offers two distinct programs to support that goal. Saturday School welcomes children of all English levels for a full or half day of English immersion, while our weekday After School program is designed for children who already communicate confidently in English, providing them with the opportunity to continue learning, collaborating, and building friendships in an English-speaking community.
Learning Through Meaningful Experiences
At The Clubhouse, we believe children learn English best by using it naturally throughout the day, not only during lessons. By spending extended time in an English-speaking environment, children build confidence and communication skills through conversation, creative projects, outdoor play, collaboration, and meaningful interactions.
Children strengthen their English skills by actively using the language throughout the day. As they communicate, create, collaborate, and solve problems together, they naturally build vocabulary, confidence, and fluency.
Meet the Founder
Finbar Burke, M.Ed. Founder & Director, The Clubhouse
With over 30 years of experience in international education in Japan, Finbar Burke has dedicated his career to helping children develop confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning through meaningful experiences.
He holds a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in language development and learning environments.
After teaching at other international schools in Japan, he founded Discovery International School in 2010 and later established The Clubhouse. Today, those same principles continue to guide every aspect of The Clubhouse.
